Your history with Buddhism/Psychology & interest in this network:
Lived in Bhutan from 1990-1995, then in Hinayana Buddhist countries since then (1995-present) apart from 7 years in France. There I took teachings from my present Vajrayana teachers.
As a Vajrayana practictioner, I make the wish daily to benefit others. For me, that looks a lot like helping others discover how they can lessen their hardships/suffering through their perception of phenomena. I don't know how to approach that though. I notice people unfold to me, complete strangers and also friends; they trust me and share with me. And I would like for my responses to be more skillful. That's what I hope to take away from this course, some skill in my approach to others in terms of talking that would bring them real benefit.
I've worked in Mental Health in the past, as an office manager of a large clinic in Los Angeles. I've been in therapy for my own growth several times. I'm not a therapist, but I would like to combine what I learn here with a coaching certificate, and do something like listening work. I haven't worked out the idea yet. Mostly just to use in everyday life, with others who wish for that.
